Another great campaign has been launched to bring families together as Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland teams up with Pukka to encourage the nation to Gather Round for Grandparents’ Day.

National Grandparents’ Day is taking place this year on Sunday 3rd October 2021 and the campaign has the aim of raising awareness about the importance of combatting loneliness and looking out for our older family and community members. Being a long-established Leicester-based bakery, Pukka also promotes quality time with your family and so was an obvious choice of partner.

With a more positive outlook for the future, Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland are keen to re-establish those close family bonds that have been missing for such a long time. The charity continues to help those who have been isolated and fearful for more than a year to re-engage with their families, communities and support networks.

National Grandparents’ Day will be a poignant milestone for many families but for so many more it will be a welcome opportunity to sit together around a table once again and enjoy the company of wonderful older relatives and friends.

Pukka and Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland are asking people to get involved and help celebrate National Grandparents’ Day by telling them about their own grandparents. Simply visit Pukka’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages to submit a few words about why your grandparents are so special, and you will also be in with a chance to win a Pukka hamper and games for all the family.

Tony Donovan, Executive Director at Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland says: “It is a privilege to be partnering with Pukka, an established and well-known local business, and by working together we hope to make a real difference to local older people.”

Isaac Fisher, General Manager at Pukka, adds: “As The People’s Pie, the local community is at the heart of everything we do. With older people needing support more than ever before, we’re delighted to be working with Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland to make a positive difference this National Grandparents’ Day.”

Here at Calendarity we are more than happy to support this campaign and to add it to our calendar of days and events to be supported. Find out more about the Grandparents’ Day campaign and resources available to get more involved here
