Jane Austen was an English novelist known primarily for her six major novels and her life and works are celebrated annually on Jane Austen Day which takes place on December 16, her birthday.

Her novels are respected around the world for their insights into the lives of the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century.

Her six novels are:

  • Sense and Sensibility (Published in 1811)
  • Pride and Prejudice (Published in 1813)
  • Mansfield Park (Published in 1814)
  • Emma (Published in 1816)
  • Northanger Abbey (Published after her death)
  • Persuasion (Published after her death)
