1987 The Great Storm
The great storm of 1987 hit the UK hard, causing widespread damage and devastation across Cornwall, Essex and the South East of England. Over 15 million trees, including six of the seven famous oak trees in Sevenoaks, were destroyed in the storm which also caused the deaths of 39 people.
1917 Execution Of Mata Hari
Mata Hari, the exotic dancer, was executed for espionage by a French firing squad.
